About Sinta & Co.

Sinta & Co. is the world’s first socially conscious Filipino wedding boutique. We aim to empower couples around the world to celebrate their Filipino heritage and culture on their wedding day. Sinta & Co. aims to connect the diaspora to their roots by way of Filipino wedding accessories, ceremony essentials, and practical planning tips to help every couple incorporate Filipino wedding traditions into their big day.

We are rooted in the same ethical and cultural ethos of our parent company Cambio & Co. of ensuring living wages for artisans, respecting the Philippines islands, and preserving Filipino indigenous traditions.

Why This Matters

According to research from WeddingWire in 2019, 58% of couples are now marrying outside of their race, religion, ethnic, or regional background. Nearly 1 in 5 couples incorporate cultural elements related to race or religion into their ceremony to pay homage to their background.

Considering the growth of the Filipino diaspora around the world, there is no doubt that this is a trend that will continue to rise throughout the years.

In Canada alone, there are over 850,000 people of Filipino descent according to the 2016 Canadian Census. In the USA, there is an even greater population of 4 million Filipino-Americans as of 2011, according to the US Department of State.

There is a clear need to celebrate our distinct cultural heritage in one of the most significant milestones of our lives, but there is a glaring lack of resources to make that happen.

“We realized that there were very few resources online to learn about Filipino wedding traditions and it was quite challenging to find the ceremony essentials outside of the Philippines. After speaking with other friends in our community, we quickly realized this wasn't just a challenge we faced, but that couples faced around the world.”
– Gelaine Santiago, Co-Founder

Our Commitment

Respect for Culture

Meaning “love” in Tagalog, “Sinta” aims to be a celebration of the beauty of Filipino heritage, traditions, and culture on your wedding day.

Local Empowerment
Our pieces are designed locally and made by community artisans in the Philippines, many of whom have been practicing their craft for generations.
Ethical Production
We believe in fair employment, dignified working conditions, and minimizing negative environmental impact. Our goal is for our artisans to become self-sufficient by empowering them economically and socially.
Community Impact

Beyond just the products we offer, we aim to create impact by uplifting our community. The Sinta Filipino Wedding Vendors Directory is an online directory of Filipino-owned businesses in North America to help couples find the right vendors, while also supporting Filipinos in their local communities.

“Weddings, after all, go beyond the couple themselves. They're also a celebration of all the people who have come before us, who are with us today, and who represent the future.”
– Jérôme Gagnon-Voyer, Co-Founder

Our Love Story

Jérôme & Gelaine Wedding

Jérôme is a Québécois (French Canada) and Gelaine is a Filipina-Chinese who grew up in Toronto, Canada.

The two met in university while volunteering for a non-profit youth leadership organization called AIESEC. Through AIESEC, they were both given opportunities to travel the world while learning about business, leadership, and social impact. This sparked their mutual passions for travel, cultural heritage, and ethical business, and eventually they fell in love.

Even after university, the two continued volunteering for local NGOs and honing their understanding of the social impact space. Feeling unfulfilled from their corporate jobs, Jérôme and Gelaine decided to quit at the same time. It was then they decided the moment was right to build something meaningful together, and so in 2015, they launched their first company, Cambio & Co.

Running a business together has been one of their hardest undertakings, but it has also been one of the most rewarding. They have learned to trust one another in ways that are different from a traditional relationship. They have since built an international company and achieved many successes as an entrepreneurial couple.

Jérôme and Gelaine were inspired to create Sinta & Co., their second company, after planning their own wedding in June 2018. Coming from two different cultures, it was important to celebrate Gelaine’s Filipina heritage and Jérôme’s Québécois culture on their wedding in meaningful ways. But it was hard to find any reliable resources online, specifically for Gelaine’s Filipino heritage. They realized other couples in the diaspora must be struggling with the same problem, and thus Sinta & Co. was born.
